Michael Stevenson Scott

Writer, Television Producer & Entrepreneur

Michael Stevenson Scott, 73, is a lifelong writer/television producer and entrepreneur whose career spans broadcasting, technology, government contracting, and global economic development. As a long-time volunteer with Junior Achievement International, Winrock International, and other USAID-affiliated NGOs, he has contributed to 83 projects across 37 countries, from Eastern Europe to Africa, South Asia, and the Pacific. His work has included executive training, board development, grant writing, and early-stage fundraising, often in distressed or developing economies. Writing under a pen name, he is the beneficiary of multiple marriages, several daughters, and long episodes of single life.

Beginning in the 1970s, he built and led multiple media ventures, including Colorado Springs’ first video production company and the pioneering Business Radio Network, which became the first full-time business news service in the United States. As founder of Phoenix Broadcasting and later Satellite Video and Data, he combined creative vision with technical expertise, developing commercial-grade satellite systems and supporting thousands of broadcast downlinks across the country. His early leadership roles in television and radio promotion further grounded his ability to communicate, innovate, and grow new ventures.

Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Scott expanded into advanced electronics and government contracting, founding Electronic Site Services, a company that provided tower construction, electrical work, and encrypted communications repair for clients including the U.S. Coast Guard, Air Force, Army, Navy, and NOAA. Later, he shifted into investment real estate consulting and financial market analysis, turning around struggling companies and developing proprietary software to track stocks and indexes. His work reflects a consistent pattern: identifying emerging needs, building organizations from the ground up, and guiding teams through complex technical and financial challenges.

Scott’s entrepreneurial reach extends far beyond U.S. borders. Recent proposals he has submitted include a mobile platform to connect rural African farmers with markets in Mali and an investment fund linking Nigerian banks with agricultural cooperatives. His career reflects a rare blend of business acumen, technical innovation, and global service—an entrepreneurial life shaped by curiosity, resilience, and a commitment to economic empowerment.
